The Joint Military Services School Liaison Committee (JMSSLC) developed this website to provide school information for military families living in the Hampton Roads area of Virginia. The JMSSLC, comprised of 10 School Liaison Officers representing all branches of service, are united and working jointly to serve the largest population of military students in any single geographic area of the nation. The joint committee reaches all transitioning families and 12 different school districts as well as private schools. The JMSSLC meets regularly to discuss joint initiatives to enhance partnerships with the schools, assist the transitioning military family and reduce the stress of relocating military children to different school environments.

There are many educational improvements as a result of the 2001 No Child Left Behind Education Legislation. This federal education law requires each school system to develop annual reports showing data regarding students' academic performance. This website will assist you in understanding the Hampton Roads area school systems and their academic performance while providing vital information to help military families make the best decision regarding their children's education.
